SEMTEC Meeting, April 24 2009

The agenda for the Friday, April 24th meeting of SEMTEC is essentially finalized (a couple of tweaks left perhaps, but this should be what we do!)

The morning portion will be a joint session - via ITV - with the MEMO Tech SID! We are looking forward to this experiment, and sharing thoughts and ideas with that group on Friday!

9:30 - Welcome! We will join up with MEMO right away.

• 10 am - State (MDE) technology update (SERVS, E2T2, other) - Cathy Wagner, MDE
• 10:30 - K-12 Learning Network of MN / METT – Mary Mehsikomer, NW Links
• 10:40 - Volume purchasing – Butch Harves / Dana Millaway and others
• 10:50 - Information on State Records Disposition (retention of e-mail and documents) - Bryan Berg (SEMTEC)
• 11:15 - Discussion of security issues as they relate to local law enforcement (access to security cameras, network resources, etc.) - Bryan Berg (SEMTEC)

Until Lunch Presentation: TECHSPO, RAMSP & SEMNET updates.

11:30 - 12:45: Lunch presenter (also providing lunch for us!) - (Thank you to Bob Tieffenbacher for helping coordinate this vendor!) - MidWave Corporation - Jake Helgeson and Paul Korkowski will present information on Network Security and strategies.

12:45 - 1:00: Using the 23 Things website to help your staff learn about (and use!) Web 2.0 tools - Bryan will present

1:00 - 1:15 - TECHSPO Update. We should have the schedule finalized by the time SEMTEC meets on the 24th. Will show the schedule & how to register. Will need your help to promote it!


1:15 - 2:15: Afternoon presenter (thank you to Jeff Oian from Grand Meadow and Corey Mattson of R-P for helping coordinate this presentation): CIPAFilter - CIPAFilter is a company dedicated to K12 districts in providing unique technology and top rate support when it comes to network security. We will discuss preventing of content filtering using anonymous proxies while also increasing the level of pornography filtering using our specialized solution. CIPAFilter will show you how to use reporting to find out exactly how your network and its bandwidth is being used.
