SEMTEC The SE MN preK-12 Technology Coordinators

Welcome to SEMTEC! Home of SE MN Educational Technology Leaders!

I've got a question for everyone.

There are times where I've found I can get a better deal from a website on a product but I have to pay sales tax and they don't take my tax exemption form or I buy it with my own credit card as they don't take a PO and then want to get reimbursed and my schools policy is to not pay sales tax for any reason and thus they will not reimburse me for the sales tax. My question is two fold.

Do your schools reimburse you for any sales tax paid?

Can a school submit for reimbursement of sales tax paid when there is no form to submit to the vendor?

Thanks,

Matt Anderson

Have Kuphal get you a school debit card and use that, I had the done right away when I had him.

You probably can but how depends on how much it is to be worth your time.

I'd call the MN dept of revenue
Yeah... Tried that when he started. Our auditors strongly recommend against debit cards or credit cards in the district thus he won't let me have one.

Get a card with some nice cash back bonus for you and use that then lol
No, they do not reimburse me either for sales tax... (no matter what)...
What we've done, is find a deal like that, and then request that our 3rd party reseller make the purchase for us. They can usually negotiate the tax with the vendor, and it all works pretty seamlessly. Only had one item that they couldn't get for us so far.
