SEMTEC The SE MN preK-12 Technology Coordinators

Welcome to SEMTEC! Home of SE MN Educational Technology Leaders!

he METT survey is now ready!! For the first time in Minnesota the school technology community is ready to begin collecting uniform information about the level of technology infrastructure that exists in districts across the state. From this first survey we are interested in answering questions about the types of tools currently in use and some general questions about how districts are embedding techonlogy in instuctional and staff development practices. Each Technology Coordinator is responsible to collect survey information from district staff and fill out the survey no later than February 27. This information will be reviewed by the Minnesota Education Technology Taskforce who will make recommendations for dissemination and publication. It will be used as the basis of a gap analysis to be leveraged in a new web-based district technology planning process.

Step 1- Gather the information needed to complete the METT survey by going to the School Technology section of the MDE web site

http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/Learning_Support/School_Technology... and printing the Word version of the survey. There are over 100 questions and this information should be gathered from a variety of district staff.

Step 2- Follow the "Instructions to Access the METT Survey Site" posted on the School Technology section of the MDE web site to set up a user account and password to enable you to enter your survey responses.

Step 3- Access the Survey Site and plan a session of about 30-40 minutes to enter the answers to the survey. This must be done in a single session. The Share Point survey tool will not allow users to save partial sets of answers and return. Sessions last about 90 minutes so you should easily have enough time to complete the survey in one sitting if you have the information gathered ahead of time.

Please contact me at cathy.wagner@state.mn.us if you have any questions about the survey or the process for competion.

On behalf of the METT we really appreciate your time and effort in this data collection process. It is very important information that is critical to our shared mission of improving education for all students in global and increasing technology based world in the 21st century.
